1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hubli collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information, in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. Information we collect
From customers browsing the directory: we do not require an account to search or browse listings. If you submit a review, we collect your name and review content.
From business owners: when you register, claim, or manage a listing, we collect your name, email address, phone number, WhatsApp number, business details, and any photos you upload.
From the contact form: we collect your name, email address, and message content.
Automatically: we collect basic usage data such as page views, search terms, and interactions (e.g. WhatsApp or call button clicks) to understand how the directory is used and to provide business owners with analytics about their own listing.

3. How we use your information
We use your information to operate the directory, display business listings to customers, allow business owners to manage their listings and view analytics, moderate reviews, respond to contact form submissions, and improve the Hubli service.
4. Who we share information with
Business contact details (phone, WhatsApp, business description) are displayed publicly on the directory, as that is the purpose of a listing. We do not sell personal information to third parties. We use third-party service providers (such as Supabase for data storage and hosting, and Vercel for hosting) who process data on our behalf under their own security standards.
5. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
We retain business listing and account information for as long as the listing remains active, and for a reasonable period after closure for record-keeping purposes. Contact form submissions are retained to allow us to respond and for our own records.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information (subject to legal or operational requirements), and object to certain processing of your information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via our contact page.
8. Cookies
Hubli may use minimal cookies or local storage necessary for the site to function (such as keeping you signed in to your business dashboard). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
